• ncurses is 18 MB after install after disabling most options, while netbsd-curses is 744 KB
• Faster than netbsd-curses
• pdcurses is not suitable for Linux
• FreeBSD and OpenBSD use ncurses (since the 90s); the older *BSD curses implementations were removed
